2009 Review by Past President Michelle Daly
In 2009 JCI Dublin had a busy year, there were 10 different speakers giving various presentations at our monthly meetings, the chapter had two entrants to the The Outstanding Young Person of the year competition.
JCI Dublin also has a very strong sense of community and fundraise continuously for many local and international charities, In 2009 they fundraised and helped GOAL, DOWN Syndrome Ireland, Console and Nothing But Nets.

The group is dedicated to running all kinds of projects including new developments in 2009 of regular Entrepreneurs Dinners : Successful Practices for Entrepreneurs.
JCI Dublin also runs a full and complete training programme. JCI Trainer for example in March 2009 had 13 participants who are now fully qualified trainers.
In July 2009 JCI Dublin hosted a national conference for JCI Ireland. The Presidents Day National Conference was a huge success attracting members from all over Ireland and abroad.
One of the most important dates on the JCI Dublin Calender is the JCI Dublin Friendly business Awards see details at www.friendlybusinessawards.com where each year the group search for Dublin’s Freindliest Businesses, any company based in Dublin can enter and the winners are invited to a prize ceremony each year in The Mansion House presented by The Lord Mayor of Dublin.
The group in Dublin also won a World Award for a JCI Dublin Project ( UNMDG) and our immediate past president (2008) Kevin Guerin won the award for best JCI Chapter President in Europe.
JCI Dublin is not all about about work either they also have a lot of fun. The group peddled ice cream in Dundrum for Down Syndrome Ireland , marketed the Darby O Gill 50th Anniversary event for Console, and had a 80’s themed table quiz in September too.
JCI also focuses on international co-operation between various other Junior Chambers. They are twinned with a number of other chapters including JCI Belfast, JCI Glasgow, JCI Chateau Gontier in France. In 1975 Dublin hosted the JCI World Congress. The world organisation has over 200,000 members and is represented in 5, 000 chapters in 118 countries. JCI Dublin has been represented at the highest echelons of the World organisation for the past 57 years.
At the beginning of 2010 JCI Dublin is again looking forward to being active. The members of Dublin Junior Chamber International are now looking forward to a new year and hoping that 2010 will be a better year where we will see Dublin return to prosperity.
