JCI Dublin attends the Burns Supper

Every year, JCI Edinburgh organises a full week end of activities to celebrate Robert Burns’ memory.

On 22nd January, 3 JCI Dublin members (Laura Borlea, Tudor Borlea and myself) attended the 2011 Burns Supper in Edinburgh.

A few hours after my arrival on Friday, I met some members from JCI Scotland and abroad in a nice city center pub. Various band (and even JCI Edinburgh singers!) entertained us for a couple of hours.

Those informal gatherings are always a great way to chat with familiar faces, get introduced to new people, and start the actual event knowing more members.

Erick Rainey ran a brilliant and very informative training on Goal Setting on Saturday morning, before we got the opportunity to taste 4 different whiskies and learn more about them. Before the Supper, and completely outside the official programme, a JCI Edinburgh member guided two of us through the Royal Mile and to the Edinburgh Castle. I enjoy walking and would have appreciated the views and atmosphere by myself, but his local knowledge was very valuable and instructive

The gala Dinner followed and was the highlight of the week end.

140 members and guests joined us for the Burns Supper, which included speeches, toast full of humour, haggis , ceilidh and much more

I spent a few more hours in Edinburgh on sunday to visit the city before coming back to Dublin with burn(s)ing desire to attend another edition of the Burns Supper!
