JCI Castleknock table quiz |
|
There was much pencil chewing and furrowing of brows in Myo’s pub recently as 24 teams gathered to compete in the JCI Castleknock table quiz in aid of Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos (Our Little Brothers and Sisters). We now know that the most dangerous creature in the world is the mosquito (!) and it was 1978 when Munster beat the All Blacks. It was a close run competition but in the end the Swervin’ Girvins were victorious, closely followed by Go Steamers and the Ongar Babes. Over €2,000 was raised on the night. Thanks to Suzanne Mills for all her hard work in organising this great night. Suzanne will be spending time at the NPH run Orphanage in the Dominican Republic working on a voluntary basis in the new year. |

I came along to the JCI Fingal training day because it seems well
organised, and interesting and affordable. That was my first event with
JCI and it went beyond my expectations. At the end of the day we manage
to fulfil it agreeably by meeting new people, learning to be aware of
our senses and intellectual faculties to take conscious control of our
thinking and therefore our life, improve our trading skills and know
better how works JCI….All in one day, all extremely enjoyable.
Thanks again to all the JCI Members and Directors that contributed to this successful day.

British Isles Leadership Academy |
|
On 31st August 2007, I went to the British Isles Leadership Academy; I
made new friend with members of JCI Scotland, JCI Ireland, JCI UK and
JCI Denmark. It was a great weekend, we had JCI spirit, a lot of energy
and positive attitude especially during the module “flirting4success”,
and we had also a lot of fun during late parties. This academy was
another unique experience to achieve my expectation by learning about
leadership and communication. This training doesn’t give you solutions
to be a good leader but gives you tools and explains you how to use
them to be a better leader. It is up to us to use all these tools. Kevin Guerin - JCI Dublin |

European Leadership Academy 2007 |
|
From the 3rd of August to the 6th of August I went to the 11th European Academy in Gothenburg, it was 4 days of training to learn about leadership, but not only. I have learnt so much more … I have learnt about people (including myself), I met new friends, I discovered new cultures … Regarding my amount of sleep the training was very intensive but the program was interesting and we had a lot of fun till our flight home. For most of us it was hard to come to work and we are all looking forward to meet each other.

European Conference in Maastricht |
I attended the Junior Chamber European Conference in Maastricht in June
2007. This was my first conference and indeed my first
international experience with JCI in general. I had heard from
many people of the tremendous experiences they had at such events in
such places as Tallinn and Vienna and I was anxious to experience it
for myself. I was assured by those ‘in the know’ that it would be an
incredible experience so my expectations for the week were high.
